Har blivit erbjuden att köpa dessa boxar för att ha i mina förstärkare. Det känns som att skjuta mygg med kanon, aningen overkill. Boxen kostar mellan 1500-2000:- & kan möjligen justifieras på stoora förstärkare som skall gå på arenor för att ge högre driftsäkerhet. Boxen adderar ju själv till komplexiteten & vad gör man när den strular?
Tror att tekniken är tagen från ngt annat sammanhang t ex processtyrning, sedan har man anpassat & produktifierat för rörstärkare.

Jag blev också tilltalad av nån agent på göteborgsmässan. Min favoritfråga när det gäller teknologi passar bra här: Vilket problem är det här lösningen på? Jag misstänker att nån har fått en idé utan att riktigt ha pejl på hur "problemet" ser ut i realiteten. Undrar hur mycket Orange betalat för sina kort? Agenten på mässan lät med en gång förstå att det naturligtvis blir lite högre pris för småhandlare... inte precis nåt man vill höra av en försäljare på första dejten!

Jag träffade samma individ på Fuzzmässan. Han erbjöd sig att skicka ett exemplar av mojängen för test. När jag beskrev jag vill testa med rörpar som diffade 100% på tomgångström (t.ex. 15 och 30ma)vid samma B+ och gallerförspänning så blev det tyst och ngt provexemplar kom aldrig.

Jag tolkar det som bekräftelse på principen: man kan kompensera upp till ca 15% skillnad i tomgångström/biasspänning utan att det börjar låta konstigt. Detta slår ju ett hål i deras marknadsargument.
Däremot tycker jag de inbyggda säkerhetsmekanismer är av större nytta än biasautomatiken.

Controller Board for the Autobias System

The digital auto-bias feature is represented by an on-board 8 bit microcomputer that during warm-up or, at any time at the press of a front panel button, sets grid bias on each output tube to the value required to produce exactly equal plate currents of optimum value, provides indication of faulty tubes and eliminates the need for matched stets. The digital circuitry is not in the signal path. When calibration is complete, it becomes inactive and shuts its internal clock off, while maintaining the bias settings in digital storage.
