Sometime in 2016 Boss began using surface-mount
components (SMT, SMD) in certain of their popular
compact pedals. The new boards are tiny, only taking
up about a third of the inside of the case, and of course
will be terribly difficult to mod. The first ones were the
DS-1 and the Blues Driver.
